How To Train Your
Puppy
The
first and most important thing you should do if you own a
puppy is to learn how to train your puppy. For some
people, it might be their second or third or maybe
even fourth puppy and they have previous
experience with training their puppies, but for others
this may be their first puppy and without any prior
experience they are clueless on how to train their
puppy.
Commonly when people first get a puppy
they like to find a guide, or a book of some sort that
teaches ‘how to train your puppy’ so
that they can follow the step by step guides in order to
give their puppy the best start to life.

When learning how to train your puppy you
need to be very patient and persistent, and sometimes it can
get a little frustrating at first. Puppies do not know the
difference between right and wrong, if they feel they need
to relieve themselves, they will, even if it’s on your
beloved carpet or on your pile of magazine
collection.
I strongly recommend that when training
your puppy you set out a timetable of the times the puppy
should sleep and wake up, have its meals, etc. You should
keep in mind that, usually after waking up from sleep,
eating, or having a play session, puppies tend to need to
pee or poop, so after any of these sessions you should take
the puppy outside, always to the same spot for your puppy to
relieve itself. You should show your puppy that you are very
happy each time they have eliminated in the same spot
outside that you have selected by praising them or giving
them a treat, this will teach the puppy that each time it
does something that pleases you, he or she will be rewarded
and will continue to do the same thing next time. This
doesn’t happen overnight though and may take several weeks
if not longer to get a puppy to understand the right place
it should go to eliminate.
When you learn how to train your puppy you should
also know that there are times when the puppy will not be
able to hold in the need to relieve itself and will just let
it out inside your house and you definitely should not
frighten the puppy by yelling at it or rubbing its face in
the waste, this will only make things worse as the puppy
will be frightened of you and next time will try to hide
from you and relieve itself which could mean it would be
hard for you to find where the puppy eliminated. The correct
procedure if you caught your puppy in the act would be to
take the puppy outside to the designated area and let it
finish off there, once it has finished off you should praise
your puppy and show that you are pleased. If the puppy does
not need to go anymore and pees or poops on the way outside
then it is too late and all you can do is clean up the mess
and get rid of the smell with some sort of
deodorizer.
If you have just got a new puppy and are
unsure of where to start and what to do, then things can get
a little confusing, what I recommend is, instead of spending
hours and hours researching on how to train your puppy and
reading through tons of different books from the library is
to find yourself a dog training guide that is proven to be
successful and is easy to follow and implement with step by
step guides as this will give you the precise and exact to
the point information you need without you having to do any
further research or guess work.
